Dhaka Metropolitan Police display seized narcotics, sharp weapons, and vehicles following a 24-hour citywide law enforcement drive.

In a major 24-hour law enforcement sweep across the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 439 individuals and registered 31 formal cases during coordinated anti-crime drives, official police sources confirmed on Thursday (October 1, 2026).

According to DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) Md. Akhtar Hossain, the division-wise breakdown of arrests includes 28 by Ramna Division, 57 by Lalbagh Division, 37 by Wari Division, 55 by Motijheel Division, 79 by Tejgaon Division, 96 by Mirpur Division, 28 by Gulshan Division, 38 by Uttara Division, 20 by the Detective Branch (DB), and 1 by Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC). During the operations, police seized 152.15 kg of cannabis, 7,028 Yaba pills, and 175 grams of heroin. Additionally, officers recovered 13 mobile phones, one motorcycle, one microbus, one private car, and various sharp weapons including a dagger, a ramda, a meat cleaver, and two Swiss gear knives. Legal proceedings and formal prosecution against the arrested suspects are currently underway across respective police stations.
