
China has expressed a strong commitment to enhancing the operational capacity of the Bangladesh Police in combating cybercrime through specialized training, technical and logistical assistance, and strategic intelligence sharing.
The offer was extended during a courtesy meeting at Police Headquarters in Dhaka on Tuesday (October 6, 2026), between Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md. Ali Hossain Fakir and a high-level Chinese delegation led by Chargé d'Affaires and Deputy Chief of Mission Dr. Liu Yueen. Discussions focused on bolstering bilateral police cooperation, particularly in mitigating telecom fraud, financial cybercrime, and tech-driven transnational offenses. The Chinese delegation emphasized providing technical infrastructure, advanced logistical support, and specialized capacity-building programs for Bangladeshi law enforcement personnel. Both sides agreed on establishing frameworks for real-time information exchange and joint operational exercises to address emerging digital threats effectively. Senior officials from Police Headquarters were present during the bilateral session, expressing optimism that long-term technological collaboration with Chinese security agencies will significantly enhance national cyber defense capabilities.
