Dengue Death Toll Rises by 9 in 24 Hours, Escalating National Fatalities to 271
Patients receiving treatment at a medical facility in Dhaka on Monday as daily Dengue hospitalizations and fatalities continue to rise across the country.

At least nine people died from Dengue fever across Bangladesh in the 24 hours leading up to Monday morning (October 5, 2026), bringing the national cumulative death toll for the current year to 271.

According to the daily bulletin issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday, the highest daily mortality was recorded in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area, where three fatalities occurred. Among the latest deceased patients, five were male and four female, maintaining the broader national demographic trend where females account for nearly 52 percent of total Dengue deaths and males 48 percent. Meanwhile, 1,902 new Dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide over the same 24-hour period, bringing total hospitalizations this year to 88,360. Geographically, the highest number of fresh hospitalizations was recorded in the Dhaka Division outside the city corporations with 401 cases, followed by Khulna with 306, Chittagong with 272, Barisal with 216, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) with 223, DNCC with 206, Rajshahi with 105, Mymensingh with 98, and Rangpur with 66. Health authorities reported that 1,988 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of successful recoveries to 82,335 nationwide.
