Nogor Unnoyon Forum Chairman Salim Uddin has called for effective preventive measures, heightened public awareness, and proper medical care for dengue patients while raising concerns over existing hospital management standards amid rising Dengue fatalities in Dhaka.
Speaking as the chief guest at a dengue awareness campaign organized by Nogor Unnoyon Forum at Shyamoli Park field in Dhaka on Monday (October 5, 2026), Salim Uddin stressed that public awareness campaigns alone are insufficient without robust vector control strategies and high-quality clinical care. Expressing concern over daily deaths caused by dengue, he pointed out significant shortcomings in current hospital treatment protocols and urged healthcare authorities to eliminate management bottlenecks to safeguard patient lives. Drawing comparisons with municipal governance in developed nations, he urged elected representatives and local leaders to adopt a proactive and accountable role in alleviating public suffering and managing health crises. During the campaign, volunteers distributed leaflets and vector control materials, including bleaching powder, while educating local residents on destroying Aedes mosquito breeding sites and keeping surrounding residential environments clean. The event was presided over by Mohammadpur East Thana Amir Md. Mashiur Rahman, with Dhaka city Shura member Md. Zubayer Hossain Rajon and local community leaders in attendance.
