Six more patients died from dengue fever across Bangladesh in the 24 hours ending at 8:00 AM Saturday (October 3, 2026), bringing the national death toll from the mosquito-borne viral disease to 249 this year, according to the official daily bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

Among the six latest fatalities, two were reported within the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area. Over the same 24-hour window, 1,608 new dengue patients were admitted to hospitals nationwide, taking total hospitalizations in 2026 to 84,369. Division-wise data shows Dhaka Division recording the highest single-day influx with 525 new hospitalizations, followed by 319 in Chattogram, 276 in Khulna, 215 in Barishal, 132 in Rajshahi, 79 in Mymensingh, and 62 in Rangpur. Meanwhile, 1,621 patients were discharged upon recovery over the past 24 hours, raising total recoveries to 78,482. DGHS historical data highlights a steep acceleration in transmission, with September alone accounting for 148 deaths, compared to 43 in August, 36 in July, 13 in June, one in May, and two each in January and February.
