The Traffic Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) filed 4,061 cases against traffic law violators during a two-day enforcement drive across the capital, sending 1,000 vehicles to dumping grounds and towing 558 others using wreckers.

Releasing the enforcement statistics on Saturday (October 3, 2026), DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner (DC) Md. Akter Hossain confirmed that the multi-zone operations were conducted on Thursday (October 1) and Friday (October 2). Gulshan Traffic Division registered the highest number of cases, booking 147 buses, 30 trucks, 67 covered vans, 191 CNG auto-rickshaws, and 513 motorcycles. Elsewhere in the capital, Motijheel and Wari divisions recorded 525 cases each, Uttara registered 522 cases, Mirpur logged 440 cases, Tejgaon recorded 213 cases, Ramna registered 210 cases, and Lalbagh recorded 155 cases. The offenses involved a wide range of commercial and private transport, including heavy trucks, buses, covered vans, CNG auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles. DMP officials emphasized that stringent traffic monitoring and surprise drives will continue across all eight traffic divisions to enforce road discipline and reduce traffic congestion in the metropolis.
