DESCO Urges Prepaid Customers to Ensure Adequate Meter Recharge Ahead of Durga Puja Holidays

The Dhaka Electric Supply Company PLC (DESCO) has requested its prepaid electricity consumers across northern Dhaka to recharge sufficient balance in their meters ahead of the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja holidays.

In an official advisory press release issued on Saturday (October 17, 2026), the power distribution utility stated that advance recharges are critical to ensuring seamless, uninterrupted electricity supply during the public holiday period. The preventive advisory aims to avoid sudden power disconnections caused by balance exhaustion during banking closures or festival festivities.

DESCO has instructed customers to utilize online payment gateways, the DESCO Mobile App, and mobile financial services (MFS) for hassle-free digital recharges. For any technical issues, meter errors, or emergency power assistance during the holiday season, consumers are advised to contact the DESCO hotline at 16120 or the unified national power sector call center at 16999.
