Bangladesh Railway (Eastern Zone) has officially announced that the Mohanagar Express (Train Nos. 721/722), which currently operates between Dhaka and Chittagong, will extend its route all the way to Cox's Bazar starting Monday, October 26, 2026.
Chief Operating Superintendent (COPS) of Railway East, Mohammad Shafiqur Rahman, confirmed that the extension is part of a strategic master plan to increase train frequency along the newly built Dohazari–Cox's Bazar rail corridor. With this addition, passengers from intermediate stations—including Feni, Comilla, Brahmanbaria, Narsingdi, Nangalkot, Laksam, Kasba, Akhaura, Ashuganj, and Bhairab Bazar—will gain direct rail access to the beach city. However, as part of the route recalibration, the long-standing stoppage at Kumira Station has been officially cancelled, requiring local commuters to use alternative transport.
Under the new schedule, Train 721 will depart Cox's Bazar at 8:00 AM, stop at Chittagong at 12:20 PM, and reach Dhaka at 6:30 PM. In the opposite direction, Train 722 will depart Dhaka at 8:30 PM, arrive in Chittagong at 2:40 AM, and reach Cox's Bazar at 6:00 AM. Operating with 16 coaches and a total seating capacity of 1,366 seats (offering Shovon Chair, Snigdha, AC Seat, and AC Berth classes), the 9-hour-30-minute journey brings the total number of regular intercity train pairs serving Cox's Bazar to five, joining the existing Cox's Bazar Express, Parjatak Express, Saikat Express, and Probal Express.
