Seized counterfeit stamps, fake medicines, narcotics, and manufacturing equipment displayed at a DMP briefing following capital-wide raids on Thursday.

In a major 24-hour enforcement drive across the capital, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 528 individuals and filed 53 cases addressing various criminal offenses, drug trafficking, and counterfeit manufacturing.

Releasing the operational report on Thursday (October 8, 2026), DMP Media and Public Relations Division Deputy Commissioner Md. Akter Hossain detailed that Mirpur Division recorded the highest number of arrests at 102, followed by Wari (75), Tejgaon (73), Lalbagh (67), Uttara (63), Motijheel (53), Gulshan (52), Ramna (33), Detective Branch (9), and Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime unit (1). During the operations across local police jurisdictions, law enforcement seized 3.59 kg of marijuana, 218 Yaba tablets, 2.6 grams of heroin, two knives, a bus, nine mobile phones, BDT 1,56,032 in cash, alongside 2,600 fake revenue stamps and 3,356 non-judicial stamps. Furthermore, police dismantled a illegal manufacturing setup, recovering fake pharmaceuticals and cosmetics—including 627 syrup bottles, 6,000 capsules, 310 shampoos, 30 face washes, raw chemical powders, packaging materials, capsule-filling machinery, and labeling molds. Legal proceedings against all arrested individuals are currently underway across respective police stations.
