The arrests follow a daylight raid on Saturday (September 26, 2026) at approximately 11:00 AM, when a mob of 150 to 200 individuals under the leadership of local operatives Joni and Rezaul stormed an office adjacent to 'Rose Villa' near the Mohammadpur embankment. CCTV footage circulating on social media showed the gang breaking open locks, vandalizing office property, removing items, and erecting new corrugated tin fencing to seize the site, which was under the possession of a local named Alam. Following a complaint filed by site employee Anwar Hossain Ripon naming 10 individuals and 20 to 25 unnamed suspects, police launched drives netting eight suspects, including early detainees Limon (23) and Monowar Hossain Saddam (25). Mohammadpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim confirmed that police brought the situation under control and advised both disputing parties to seek judicial resolution through the courts.
