A police constable assigned to the evidence destruction branch at the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court in Dhaka has been arrested in possession of 1,790 Yaba tablets.
The arrest was confirmed on Monday (September 28, 2026) by the Prosecution Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP). The suspect, identified as Constable Md. Rezaul Karim (45), was detained by a specialized team from CID Dhaka Metro-South during a raid inside "Bismillah Biryani Ghar" in Ward 28 under Sutrapur Police Station around 9:30 PM on Sunday (September 27). According to the case details, officers intercepted Rezaul as he attempted to flee the scene and recovered 1,790 Yaba pills weighing 179 grams—with an estimated street value of BDT 5.37 lakh—from his trousers pocket, alongside BDT 5,500 in drug sale proceeds and a smartphone. Inspector Md. Kamruzzaman filed a case with Sutrapur Police Station on Monday under the Narcotics Control Act, and prosecution officials indicated that a remand petition will be filed for custodial interrogation.
