Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Administrator Bir Muktijoddha Md. Abdus Salam has announced comprehensive civic preparations to ensure a peaceful and seamless celebration of the upcoming Durga Puja festival across the South Dhaka jurisdiction.

Speaking on Friday (October 9, 2026) at a national delegates' conference and Mahalaya celebration hosted by the Bangladesh Sanatan Party at the Institution of Engineers, Kakrail, Abdus Salam outlined multi-pronged infrastructure and financial initiatives.

For the first time, DSCC has disbursed a total financial grant of BDT 19.8 lakh across 168 Puja mandaps under its jurisdiction, including a dedicated allocation of BDT 10 lakh for the historic Dhakeshwari National Temple. The administrator instructed engineering departments to complete all road repair work adjacent to venues within two days while deploying specialized cleaning crews to drain networks and surrounding public spaces.

Additionally, DSCC street lighting teams have been tasked with replacing malfunctioning fixtures along mandap routes. Reaffirming civic inclusivity, Salam highlighted ongoing programs extending financial stipends and support to both Hindu temple priests and mosque imams.
