Ensuring Airport Security Is Government’s Top Priority, Asserts Aviation Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat addresses officials and media after observing the full-scale Airport Emergency Exercise at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat has declared that ensuring comprehensive security and emergency response readiness across Bangladesh's airports remains the highest priority of the current administration, establishing a zero-tolerance policy regarding aviation safety.

Speaking to journalists on Monday morning (October 5, 2026) following his inspection of the full-scale "Airport Emergency Exercise" at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) in Dhaka, Minister Millat recalled the severe damage and reputational harm caused by the October 2025 import cargo complex fire during the interim government's tenure. He highlighted the newly formed National Civil Aviation Security Committee and emphasized strict adherence to safety mandates ahead of the upcoming International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) audit. Announcing major security enhancements, Millat revealed plans to install advanced anti-drone defense systems over Key Point Installations (KPIs) following unauthorized drone activity during past incidents, alongside augmenting digital scanners and hardware redundancy. Reaffirming that security protocols apply equally to VIPs and CIPs without exception, the Minister instructed airport operations, fire services, security personnel, and medical teams to minimize emergency response times and establish formal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) across inter-ministerial agencies to guarantee zero compromise on passenger safety and service standards.
