An exchange meeting was held in Pirojpur to accelerate the implementation of 'Bangla QR' under the slogan "One Country, One QR; Bangla QR for Transactions." The event was organized by scheduled banks operating in the district on Wednesday morning (September 30) at the Sadar Upazila Parishad Auditorium.
Prior to the meeting, a colorful rally was brought out from the Sonali Bank PLC Pirojpur branch, concluding at the Sadar Upazila premises. Md. Mofizur Rahman Khan Chowdhury, Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank (Barishal Division), attended the program as the chief guest. The meeting was chaired by Md. Jahangir Alam Sardar, Deputy General Manager of Sonali Bank PLC (General Manager's Office, Barishal). Special guests included Principal Alamgir Hossain, Administrator of Pirojpur Zila Parishad; Pradeep Ranjan Debnath, Director of Bangladesh Bank (Barishal Division); Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Additional Director of Bangladesh Bank (Barishal Division); and Ahsanul Kabir, General Secretary of the District Traders Association.
Speakers highlighted that Bangla QR can play a pivotal role in making financial transactions easier, safer, and more modern. Since a single QR code enables interoperable transactions across various banks and financial service providers, both business owners and general consumers will benefit. Discussions focused on expanding Bangla QR usage in Pirojpur, bringing local merchants onto the network, and boosting public awareness about digital payments. The lead bank role played by Sonali Bank PLC's Pirojpur branch in implementing Bangla QR across the district was also featured. Officials from various scheduled banks, business leaders, and relevant representatives attended the meeting.
