Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) conducted mobile court operations in the capital's Sutrapur and Gendaria areas to address deviations from approved designs and violations of construction regulations. On Tuesday (September 29), action was taken against eight buildings under construction in the area covered by Zone-7/1. During the drive, one building owner was fined Tk 5 lakh, 12 electricity meters were confiscated, and unauthorized portions of several buildings were partially demolished.
The operation was conducted under the joint supervision of RAJUK Executive Magistrate Md. Liton Sarkar and Zone-7/1 Authorized Officer Md. Ilias. Relevant officials, including the Assistant Authorized Officer, Chief Building Inspector, and Building Inspectors, were present during the drive.
During the operation, an electricity meter was seized from a 10-story building under construction by Shawkat and others at 45 S.K. Das Road in Sutrapur. A fine of Tk 5 lakh was imposed, and the unauthorized front section of the building was partially removed.
In the same vicinity, near the premises at number 45, unauthorized parts of a five-story building owned by Bilkis Begum and others were partially removed, and a meter was seized. Two meters were confiscated from a four-story building owned by Md. Akkas Chowkidar at 38/3 S.K. Das Road, and three meters were seized from a single-story building owned by Sohel and others at 82 S.K. Das Road; unauthorized sections of the building at number 82 were also partially removed.
Additionally, an electricity meter was seized from a four-story building under construction by Md. Shahjahan and others at 106 and 107 K.B. Road.
A drive was also conducted at a building under construction by Ruhul Amin and others at 14 and 14/1 Satish Sarkar Road in Gendaria. According to RAJUK data, although the building was approved for 10 stories, a 14-story structure was being built at the front and a 16-story structure at the rear. Earlier, on January 21, a raid was conducted on the building, resulting in a fine of Tk 5 lakh, the seizure of a meter, and the partial removal of unauthorized construction. As construction work resumed, another raid was carried out on Tuesday; during this operation, two meters were seized, and unauthorized sections were partially removed.
A follow-up raid was also conducted on a seven-story building under construction by Sohel and his associates at 4, 5, and 6 Malakartola. A meter had previously been seized and unauthorized parts partially removed there on August 10. Since construction had restarted, a construction meter was seized and unauthorized sections were partially removed again on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, an electric meter was seized from a single-story building under construction by Hitler Chandra at 43 Malakartola and handed over to a DPDC representative.
RAJUK officials stated that such drives would continue to ensure that buildings are constructed in compliance with approved designs and building regulations.
