Far East Islamic Life Insurance Alleges Illegal Land Grab of 628 Decimals in Mirpur, Cites Police Inaction
Far East Islamic Life Insurance Acting CEO Md. Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan presents land ownership documents and High Court directives during a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Sunday.

Far East Islamic Life Insurance Company Limited has formally alleged the illegal land grabbing of 628.89 decimals of its corporate property located in the Goran Chatbari area of Mirpur, Dhaka, criticizing Shah Ali Police Station for failing to protect policyholder assets despite valid High Court stay orders.

Speaking at a press conference organized at the Sagar-Runi Hall of the Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday (October 4, 2026), Far East's Acting Chief Executive Officer Md. Abdur Rahim Bhuiyan stated that an armed group of 50 to 60 individuals led by one Anisul Islam, alias Nazmul, forcibly entered the property on September 24 and erected a boundary wall. Bhuiyan noted that the land in question is backed by valid title deeds and generates commercial rental income for the company. However, following political shifts post-August 5, Nazmul began claiming the property by leveraging the influence of a prominent political relative. Despite filing General Diaries (GD) at Shah Ali Police Station on September 21 and 27, and despite a High Court stay order dated July 29 maintaining status quo pending rule disposal, local police failed to inspect the site or halt the occupation. Presenting a six-point charter of demands, the management urged investigative journalists and administrative authorities to intervene, clear the illegal encroachment, and safeguard institutional policyholder funds.
