Southwest Monsoon Set to Retreat Within Five Days; Rain Activity and Temperatures Expected to Drop Nationwide
Clouds move over the capital as the Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecasts the withdrawal of the southwest monsoon within five days.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has announced that rainfall across the country will decrease over the coming days as the southwest monsoon readies for complete withdrawal from the territory within the next five days.

According to a weather bulletin issued on Sunday (October 4, 2026) by BMD Meteorologist A.K.M. Nazmul Haq, monsoon activity has reduced significantly, leaving most parts of Bangladesh under partly cloudy to mainly dry atmospheric conditions. Isolated light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds are predicted for isolated spots across Rangpur, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions through Monday morning, with daytime and night temperatures expected to drop slightly nationwide. Similar localized rainfall patterns will persist across eastern, central, and northern divisions through October 5 and October 6 with minor temperature fluctuations. By October 7 and October 8, lingering light precipitation across all eight administrative divisions will coincide with a further slight drop in daytime temperatures, signaling the seasonal transition into dry autumn weather.
