To streamline the distribution of government assistance and agricultural supplies, the official distribution of Farmer Cards has commenced in Thakurgaon. In the initial phase, a total of 11,648 farmers across seven blocks in five upazilas of the district will receive these cards, enabling them to access government subsidies, agricultural inputs, and financial allowances.

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman virtually inaugurated the program on Thursday afternoon during a distribution ceremony held at the Nargun High School grounds in Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. According to the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), the first batch includes 1,148 farmers from Thakurgaon Sadar and 1,369 from Ranisankail Upazila, with gradual expansion planned for the remaining upazilas.

Under the system, small and marginal farmers will receive financial allowances along with subsidized inputs, while medium and large farmers will receive non-allowance benefits.

DAE Deputy Director Md. Majedul Islam and District Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Haq emphasized that the card system will enhance transparency, eliminate middlemen, and ensure the orderly delivery of fertilizers and agricultural aid directly to farmers.
