Fire Service Rescues Locked-In Twin Toddlers in Uttara Following Emergency 999 Call
Emergency responders from the Uttara Fire Service safely rescue locked-in twin toddlers following a rapid response coordinated via 999.

Fire service personnel successfully rescued 28-month-old twin brothers who became accidentally locked inside a room at their residence in Uttara, Dhaka, following an emergency call to the National Emergency Service 999 on Wednesday afternoon (September 30, 2026).

The incident occurred at Hossein Manzil in the Pakuria Market area of Uttara while the toddlers, identified as Jahir and Sahib, were playing inside a room and latched the door from the inside. According to Police Inspector Anwar Sattar, Media and Public Relations Officer for National Emergency Service 999, the children's parents were unable to dislodge the latch from the outside while the toddlers panicked within. A relative, Md. Atiqul Islam, placed an emergency call to 999, where call-taker Sojib Miah and fire dispatcher Al Amin coordinated directly with the Uttara Fire Service station. A specialized rescue team led by Leading Officer Manik arrived swiftly at the scene, safely breaching the door structure to retrieve both toddlers unharmed.
