Government Unifies Ansar Acts into Single 'Ansar Bahini Act' to Modernize Force Infrastructure
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed inaugurates new administrative and IT training facilities for the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP in Dhaka.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed announced on Thursday (October 1, 2026) that the government is drafting a unified 'Ansar Bahini Act' to streamline the administrative structure and legal framework of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP).

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugurations of the newly constructed 'Agrajatra Bhaban', 'Prantik Songjog Seba', 'Prantik Shakti', and 'Mobile IT Training Center' at the Ansar auditorium in Khilgaon, Dhaka, the Home Minister explained that consolidating the three separate existing statutes—the Ansar Bahini Act 1995, the Ansar Battalion Act 2023, and the Village Defence Party Act 1995—into a single legislative code will strengthen operational control and efficiency. Furthermore, Minister Ahmed disclosed plans to establish a modern multi-story Ansar headquarters on a 3.428-acre plot in Tejgaon, featuring an integrated command center to coordinate with other law enforcement agencies. He also highlighted ongoing initiatives to train 100,000 VDP volunteers alongside specialized Japanese language courses and digital skills programs aimed at enhancing national manpower development. The inauguration ceremony was presided over by Major General Abdul Motaleb Sazzad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and VDP.
