The government has issued an official gazette notification declaring a three-day executive holiday from October 20 to 22 for Durga Puja, resulting in a continuous five-day break when combined with the adjacent weekend.

According to the notification published by the Ministry of Public Administration on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), the public holidays will cover the main religious festivities of Durga Puja. With the executive holidays spanning Tuesday (October 20) through Thursday (October 22), government, semi-government, and private sector workers aligned with public schedules will enjoy five consecutive days of leave through the regular weekend on Friday (October 23) and Saturday (October 24). The extended holiday aims to facilitate smooth nationwide travel and peaceful celebrations across the country.
