Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman officially inaugurated the first phase of the 'Rehabilitation of Muhuri-Kahua Flood Control, Drainage and Irrigation Project' in Feni on Thursday (October 1, 2026).

Arriving by road from Dhaka, the Prime Minister unveiled the project plaque at approximately 2:30 PM near the Kheya Ghat Muhuri Bridge area in Parshuram Upazila. Following the plaque unveiling, Prime Minister Rahman planted a tree sapling at the venue and formally inaugurated a comprehensive river dredging program aimed at improving regional water management, flood mitigation, and agricultural drainage. Local Member of Parliament for Feni-1, Rafiqul Alam Majnu, received the Prime Minister upon his arrival. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several cabinet ministers and parliamentary representatives, including Environment Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo (MP Feni-3), Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee, Water Resources State Minister Farhad Hossain Azad, Housing Minister Zakariya Taher, Social Welfare State Minister Farzana Sharmin, MP VP Zainal Abedin (Feni-2), and MP Rehana Akhter Ranu.
