
A high-level delegation from the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN) has arrived in Dhaka for a two-day bilateral visit to strengthen institutional cooperation and observe Bangladesh's technological advancement in managing expatriate voting.
The delegation, comprising two Nepalese Election Commissioners and the ECN Secretary alongside senior officials, convened at the Election Bhaban in Agargaon, Dhaka, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday (October 7, 2026) for bilateral discussions. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A M M Nasir Uddin led the Bangladesh delegation, joined by Election Commissioners Abdur Rahmanel Masud, Begum Tahmida Ahmad, Md. Anwarul Islam Sarkar, and Brigadier General (Retd.) Abul Fazal Md. Sanaullah. Organized under the auspices of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the 'Learning and Exchange Program' focuses on evaluating the implementation of Bangladesh's "Out-of-Country Voting System Development and Implementation (OCV-SDI)" project. Over the course of the two-day exchange (October 7–8), Nepalese officials will review the technical architecture, IT-supported postal voting mechanisms, and administrative workflows designed to guarantee voting rights for diaspora citizens. Senior Secretary Akhter Ahmed and UNDP Chief Technical Advisor for Electoral Project Assistance were also present during the talks.
