Home Ministry Issues New Policy Framework for Fire Service Transfers and Postings
The Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters in Dhaka, where the new transfer and posting policy 2026 came into immediate effect.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has officially issued a new policy framework titled "Fire Service and Civil Defense Personnel Transfer and Posting Policy 2026" to ensure operational transparency, discipline, and efficiency across the department.

Signed by Home Ministry Senior Secretary Manjur Mourshed Chowdhury, the new policy comes into immediate effect and replaces the 2023 guidelines (revised in 2024). Under the new provisions, officers and staff serving at a single station for three consecutive years will automatically become eligible for transfer, while personnel posted in hill tracts (Rangamati, Bandarban, Khagrachhari) and hard-to-reach haor/char regions can be transferred after two years.

Transfers for Grade 5 and above will be executed directly by the Home Ministry, whereas Grade 6 through Grade 20 postings will be administered by the Fire Service Directorate. Crucially, officers in Grade 12 and above cannot be posted in their home districts; however, Grade 13 to Grade 20 personnel may be posted within their home districts near their permanent addresses, provided it is outside their home upazilas. Contractual, outsourcing, and daily-wage project workers remain exempt from these posting rules.
