Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi military spokesman Brigadier General Yahya Saree claimed on Wednesday that Houthi forces launched a coordinated barrage of drones and ballistic missiles targeting two Saudi international airports and four military installations.
In a statement posted on X on Wednesday (October 7, 2026), Saree claimed that Houthi fighters launched multiple drones at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh during the early morning hours, alleging significant disruption to flight operations. According to the Houthi spokesman, simultaneous drone and missile strikes targeted Abha International Airport, the Khamis Mushait military base, the Daghari and Al-Mausim military bases in Jizan province, and the Anqifah military base in Asir province. While Saudi officials did not directly comment on every specific claim, the Saudi-led Coalition issued a statement confirming that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile mid-air north of Riyadh. Coalition spokesman Brigadier General Turki al-Malki confirmed via X that intelligence units successfully identified the missile and drone launch site in Yemen's capital, Sana'a, warning that Coalition forces are actively monitoring the installation to carry out targeted retaliatory strikes.
