Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed warned that strict action under sedition laws will be taken against anyone secretly collaborating with or leaking information to fascist forces. Speaking as the chief guest on Saturday morning at the Police Week Medal Distribution Ceremony 2026 at the Rajarbagh Police Lines Auditorium in Dhaka, the Minister noted that some grassroot-level police personnel are neglecting their duties or aiding ousted elements.

He emphasized that the current democratic government, backed by massive public expectations and the younger generation, will maintain strict discipline and pursue both departmental and criminal actions against wrongdoers without hesitation. Highlighting the dark legacy of the past 17 years—including extrajudicial killings, disappearances, and the deaths of around 1,400 citizens during the uprising—the Home Minister stated that formal requests have been made to India under the extradition treaty to return convicted fugitive criminals, including Sheikh Hasina.
