Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Major (Retd) Hafiz Uddin Ahmad Bir Bikram, MP has departed Dhaka for Tanzania to lead the Bangladesh parliamentary delegation at the 153rd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Arusha.

The Speaker and his accompanying delegation departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 2:30 PM on Sunday (October 4, 2026). The parliamentary delegation includes Whip Mia Nuruddin Ahmmed Apu, MP, alongside Members of Parliament Sarwar Jamal Nizam, A.E. Sultan Mahmud Babu, Md. Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, S.K. Azizul Bari, Hummam Quader Chowdhury, Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem, Sancila Jebrein, and Rokeya Begum. Scheduled from October 5 to October 9 in Arusha, the five-day international assembly is centered on the theme "Promoting Good Governance and Empowering Communities Through Inclusion, Trust and Opportunity for All." Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad will address key plenary sessions, representing Bangladesh's parliamentary legislative priorities. On the final day of the assembly (October 9), the delegation will participate in the IPU Governing Council meeting to cast votes in the election of the organization's new president, before returning to Dhaka on October 11.
