Legal Action Against Anyone Assisting Criminals; No Plans for 'Operation Clean Heart': Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed
Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed speaking to journalists at Dampara Police Lines, Chittagong.

Home Minister Salauddin Ahmed has firmly stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone who obstructs police duties or provides shelter and assistance to criminals during law enforcement operations.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon (October 14, 2026) at Dampara Police Lines in Chittagong following the inauguration of the CID Cyber Police Center and Digital Forensic Lab, the Home Minister addressed recent incidents of law enforcement officers facing resistance during raids. "It is not uncommon for police officers to face attacks while cracking down on crime, but the government will exert all effort to suppress criminals," he said. Clarifying government policy on security drives, Minister Ahmed explicitly ruled out extraordinary military-style drives, stating: "We have no plans to launch an Operation Clean Heart."

The newly inaugurated Chittagong Cyber Office and Digital Forensic Lab was established with assistance from the South Korean Government and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The Home Minister highlighted that a specialized Police Cyber Unit, headed by an Additional IGP, formally launched operations on October 1, and the CID forensic lab will work in tandem to speed up judicial evidence certification. He also announced plans to rapidly establish modern digital forensic laboratories across all eight divisional headquarters nationwide to adapt to evolving cybercrime trends.
