
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated World Habitat Day 2026 this morning at the Hall of Fame of the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre under the theme “Universal Housing, Sustainable Urbanisation”.
Following a tree-planting ceremony, recitation of scriptures, screening of a documentary, and unveiling of a commemorative publication, the Prime Minister opened a three-day housing fair featuring 157 stalls from REHAB, RAJUK, the Public Works Department, financial institutions, and other related agencies. Chaired by Housing and Public Works Minister Zakaria Taher and welcomed by Ministry Secretary Md.
Obaidur Rahman, the event also featured speeches from Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo, Housing and Public Works State Minister Ahammad Sohel Monzoor, and UN Resident Coordinator in Bangladesh Carol Flore-Smereczniak.
