No Formal Decision Made on Joint Operations: Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed
Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed addresses media representatives following the foundation plaque unveiling for the new Ansar and VDP Headquarters in Tejgaon, Dhaka.

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed clarified that no formal decision has been made regarding specialized joint operations in the country, noting that coordinated drives by Police, BGB, SRB (formerly RAB), and Ansar remain a routine operational process aimed at curbing terrorism, extortion, and narcotics.

Speaking to reporters after unveiling the foundation plaque for the new headquarters of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP in Tejgaon, Dhaka, on Thursday morning (October 1, 2026), the Home Minister confirmed that 3.428 acres (approximately 11 bighas) of land have been allocated by the Ministry of Housing and Public Works to resolve space constraints at the current Khilgaon facility. Highlighting that Ansar represents the nation's largest force—comprising nearly 20,000 Battalion Ansar personnel, 60,000 embodied members, and a 6-million-strong trained VDP reserve—he praised their contributions during national crises, including the July uprising, while promising progressive fulfillment of their welfare demands. Furthermore, addressing capital governance and law enforcement accountability, the Minister noted that AI-driven automated traffic enforcement is now active in Dhaka and assured that no anti-state forces would be permitted to induce instability during the upcoming Victory Month of December.
