Police Security Scaled Up at BRAC University Following Email Bomb Threat
Police personnel stationed near the main entrance of BRAC University on Pragati Sarani in Dhaka following security precautions triggered by an email threat.

Security has been significantly enhanced at BRAC University in Dhaka following an anonymous mass bomb threat received via email targeting its Pragati Sarani campus.

Police deployment was reinforced across the university premises on Monday evening (October 5, 2026) following an email sent on Sunday from an account named "TypicalChineseman." The message claimed a coordinated bomb attack would take place on Tuesday (October 6, 2026) at approximately 11:00 AM at BRAC University's main campus located at Kha-224, Pragati Sarani, Dhaka-1212. Badda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Md. Nasirul Amin confirmed the law enforcement presence, adding that police deployment would be further intensified throughout Tuesday while multiple intelligence agencies investigate the origin of the digital communication. Addressing public concern, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP Gulshan Division Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan stated that there was no cause for panic, assessing the communication as lacking credible immediate threat potential. A General Diary (GD) has been registered at Badda Police Station, and the Cyber Crime Division of the Detective Branch (DB) is actively tracing the sender.
