The operation was conducted at approximately 2:30 AM on Tuesday (September 29, 2026) behind the Melar Math Khalpar area adjacent to Nobodoy Housing Kacha Bazar. According to DMP Tejgaon Division Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jewel Rana, a police team raided the location following a tip-off regarding suspects implicated in vandalism, extortion, and property seizure cases. When officers attempted to apprehend the group of 7 to 8 individuals, suspects brandishing sharp weapons charged at the police team. In self-defense, Constable Moshrekul Islam discharged two rounds from a shotgun, wounding two suspects in the legs. Police arrested four individuals at the scene: Rajib Hawlader (30), Sagar alias Chhotto Bigar (24), Shakib (23), and Rashed (24). Rajib and Sagar were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for treatment. Law enforcement officers recovered steel machetes, samurai swords, and daggers from the spot. Police revealed that Sagar faces eight criminal cases across Adabor and Mohammadpur stations, Rajib is the primary accused in the high-profile Babu murder case in Mohammadpur, and both Shakib and Rashed face five cases each.
