President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon everyone, regardless of party affiliation or opinion, to unite in the spirit of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day to build a democratic, just, humane, and secure Bangladesh.

The President made this call in a message issued on Friday (November 6) on the occasion of the historic National Revolution and Solidarity Day observed on November 7.

The President stated that the Sepoy-People's Revolution of November 7, 1975, is an unforgettable day in the national life of Bangladesh. At that crucial juncture in the country's history, Bangladesh regained its independence and sovereignty through the united revolution of soldiers and citizens. During this time, the martyred President Ziaur Rahman was freed from captivity. With the unanimous support of the people, the responsibility of governing the state and overcoming the national crisis was entrusted to him.

In his message, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir noted that the solidarity between soldiers and citizens was an unprecedented awakening inspired by the spirit of independence. Reassurance of that same spirit occurred during the 2024 mass uprising. Through the unity of students, men, women, and members of the armed forces across all walks of life, 16 years of fascist rule came to an end. As a result, Bangladesh was saved from the catastrophe of becoming a puppet state.

The President added that the importance of the November 7 revolution and solidarity in national life is immense. Following in its stride, martyred President Ziaur Rahman re-established multi-party democracy, the rule of law, and the freedom of speech and press in the country. Alongside establishing economic liberation and social peace, he freed Bangladesh from a subservient foreign policy. Based on Bangladeshi nationalism, he guided the nation toward development, progress, and prosperity while establishing good governance at all levels.

Highlighting the current political situation, the President remarked that conspiracies against national independence and sovereignty had recurred repeatedly, democracy had been trampled upon, and fascist misrule had taken hold.

However, through collective efforts, the country has begun its journey back toward democracy under the leadership of an elected government.

To maintain this progress, the President emphasized the importance of strengthening all state institutions, including democratic ones. He urged keeping the National Parliament at the center of resolving national issues alongside mutual respect and discussion.

The President asserted that to realize the hopes and aspirations of November 7, the state will be governed based on the philosophy of "Bangladesh First" in the interest of the country and its people. National interests, equality, justice, and the practice of democracy will receive top priority.

He called upon the nation to protect independence and sovereignty and to put an end to corruption, discrimination, and all conspiracies, inspired by the spirit of November 7. He also wished complete success for all programs organized on the occasion of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day.
