Jerika Tasnim Disha, arrested in connection with the murder of former Bangladesh Air Force Flight Lieutenant K. M. Tahsif Souri, has been sent to prison following the completion of her remand.

On Friday (November 6), the investigating officer of the case, Inspector Firoz Uddin of Tongi River Police Outpost, presented Disha in court after two phases of remand and applied to keep her in judicial custody. Subsequently, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Aminul Islam Junaid ordered her to be sent to jail. The investigating agency claimed before the court that Disha provided key information during interrogation under remand.

Sub-Inspector Saiful Islam of the Prosecution Department confirmed the matter, stating that no bail application was submitted on behalf of the accused.

In the application seeking to keep her in custody, police stated that Disha was interrogated using various techniques to uncover the main mystery behind the incident. During questioning, Disha revealed that prior to the incident on the night of October 27, she had gone to 'Nest Bar and Restaurant' in Uttara with Tahsif. Earlier that evening, they had spent a considerable amount of time together before heading to the establishment. She had also ridden around on Tahsif's motorcycle in various locations.

The investigating officer noted in the application that the suspect provided several crucial pieces of information regarding the incident, which are being kept confidential and verified in the interest of the investigation. However, he added that as the accused is clever by nature, she tactfully avoided answering multiple questions and remained silent.

During the investigation, statements given by Disha were cross-checked with those of another suspect currently in police custody on remand, Ahmed Shahriar Reza Deep (a junior friend of Tahsif). Furthermore, analysis of Tahsif's mobile phone call records confirmed multiple conversations with Disha. Preliminary investigations suggest evidence linking Disha to the incident, and the probe against her remains ongoing. The officer emphasized that she needs to remain in jail until the investigation concludes.

The application further claimed that if released on bail, Disha might abscond and disrupt the investigation. In the interest of a fair investigation and to uncover the full mystery behind the crime, the accused might need to be interrogated on remand again in the future.

Following her arrest on November 1 from the capital's Kafrul area, the court granted a four-day remand for Disha the next day, followed by a second phase of a three-day remand on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Deep was granted a four-day remand on October 31, a three-day remand on Tuesday, and an additional three-day remand on Thursday.

Earlier, on the afternoon of October 28, River Police recovered the body of Tahsif Souri from the Rajabari Ghat area of Turag. He had gone downstairs from his residence on the evening of October 27 "at Deep's call" and left home riding his motorcycle.
