President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for drastic reductions in migration costs, absolute transparency in recruitment processes, and strict legal action against fraudulent middleman syndicates operating in the overseas employment sector.

Delivering the valedictory address at the 30th anniversary celebration of the Refugee and Migratory Movements Research Unit (RMMRU) and the 'Sonar Manush Sammelan 2026' award ceremony held at the Ruposhi Bangla Grand Ballroom of Hotel InterContinental on Wednesday (October 14, 2026), the President stressed that the rights and dignity of Bangladesh’s 15 million expatriate workers cannot remain uncertain.

Highlighting that migrant workers remitted over $35 billion USD ($35,000,000,000\text{ USD}$) in FY 2025–26, President Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that overseas missions must become worker-friendly hubs ensuring every migrant understands their employment contract, wages, and legal protections prior to departure. Addressing shifting international labor demands, he urged public and private vocational centers to train workers for emerging tech sectors like Artificial Intelligence (AI), IT, healthcare, nursing, eldercare, and modern construction. He also recommended declaring a "Decade of Migration", expanding the Probashe Card system, providing specialized courts for migrant grievances, and offering up to Tk 10 lakh in rehabilitation loans for returning workers.
