President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon all citizens, regardless of religion or caste, to maintain mutual harmony and work together to construct a liberal, democratic, and prosperous Bangladesh.
The President made the call during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Sri Sri Hari-Guruchand Matua Mission central committee, led by its President Sri Padmanabha Thakur, at Bangabhaban in Dhaka on Sunday (October 4, 2026). Highlighting that people of all faiths fought side by side to achieve independence, President Mirza Fakhrul warned that any attempt to dismantle communal harmony must be firmly resisted. Addressing the socio-economic challenges facing the nation, he noted that despite inheriting a shattered economic structure, the government has been working tirelessly over the past seven months to rebuild state institutions and advance national progress. He cautioned against malicious campaigns attempting to sow division among communities during this transitional period. During the meeting, the delegation formally invited the President to visit Sreedham Orakandi Thakurbari, a pilgrimage site for the Matua community, which the President assured he would visit. The delegation also included Subarna Sikder (Thakur), MP, alongside central and district committee leaders of the Matua Mission.
