President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called upon wealthy individuals and philanthropists to complement government initiatives in social welfare so that underprivileged citizens can access equal healthcare services across the country.
The President made the call on Sunday (October 11, 2026) during a courtesy meeting with a delegation from the Bangladesh Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons (BSCRS), led by its President, Prof. Dr. Md. Rashedul Islam, at Bangabhaban. During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Rashedul Islam informed the President that world-class colon and rectal surgical treatments are now routinely performed within Bangladesh, effectively eliminating the necessity for patients to travel abroad for complex procedures.
He further highlighted that Bangladeshi colorectal surgeons have earned international acclaim for their expertise and clinical standards. Prof. Rashedul officially invited President Mirza Fakhrul to attend the upcoming International Colorectal Surgery Conference, organized by BSCRS on October 27, 2026, as the Chief Guest. The President accepted the invitation and assured his presence at the summit. Senior military and civil secretaries alongside member surgeons of BSCRS were present during the Bangabhaban call.
