In an intensive 4.5-hour unannounced tour on Saturday (October 17, 2026), Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inspected 13 locations across Dhaka—spanning hospitals, educational institutions, government residential quarters, and public commercial zones.
Commencing his rounds at 9:10 AM and concluding at 1:41 PM, the Prime Minister evaluated hygiene standards, administrative accountability, and civic infrastructure. His itinerary included the Kuwait-Bangladesh Friendship Government Hospital (where he issued a 7-day sanitation ultimatum), Rajuk Uttara Model College, Mirpur Cantonment Public School, National Heart Foundation, Paikpara Staff Quarters, Government Bangla College, Bangladesh Shishu Hospital & Institute, Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College & Hospital, his alma mater Dhaka Residential Model College (where he addressed students on cleanliness and tree plantation), Dhanmandi Government Boys' High School, Kalabagan Staff Quarters, Azimpur Government Staff Quarters (giving a 14-day cleanup deadline), and the hawker-free pedestrian footpaths at Mirpur-10 alongside DNCC Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan Milton.
During his visit to Shishu Hospital, the Prime Minister personally caught Associate Professor Dr. Rafiqul Islam smoking inside an unhygienic office chamber, prompting an immediate suspension order. Emphasizing zero tolerance for administrative negligence, the Prime Minister urged all public officials and citizens to maintain high civic standards and ensure accountable public service delivery.
