Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inspected a mobile food testing laboratory van parked at the Cabinet Division premises inside the Bangladesh Secretariat on Wednesday morning (October 14, 2026) before entering his office.
Stepping inside the mobile unit, the Prime Minister personally observed food sample collection and rapid chemical testing procedures while officials briefed him on the project's progress. Officials reported that under the supervision of the Bangladesh Safe Food Authority (BFSA) and executive magistrates, mobile lab vans are currently monitoring food quality and conducting anti-adulteration drives across eight metropolitan areas. The government plans to progressively extend these testing units to all 64 districts nationwide.
Furthermore, under BFSA's capacity development project for FY2026–27, the procurement of 72 specialized mobile laboratory vans is currently underway. These units are also equipped with external LED display monitors to broadcast educational videos and raise public awareness about food safety. The Prime Minister was accompanied by Food Minister Afroza Khanam, Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni, State Minister for Food Abdul Bari, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister ABM Abdus Sattar, and Public Administration Secretary Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.
