Probe Body Formed Over Begum Khaleda Zia's Framed Photo Found Abandoned in Gangachara
A framed photograph of former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia lies neglected near the storeroom staircase inside the Gangachara Upazila Accounts Office in Rangpur.

Upazila administration has formed an inquiry committee following the recovery of a framed photograph of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia found amidst dust and junk near the storeroom staircase inside the Gangachara Upazila Accounts Office in Rangpur. Upon learning about the incident, Gangachara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Jasmin Akter took prompt action to initiate an investigation to ascertain the true facts.

The incident has sparked serious questions regarding the role of the concerned accounts officer. When asked how the photograph ended up there, Upazila Accounts Officer Mst. Shamsun Nahar replied, "I do not know how it got there."

On-site inspection revealed a framed picture of Begum Khaleda Zia lying on the floor next to the storeroom staircase of the Upazila Accounts Office. A portion of the frame was covered with polythene, surrounded by dust, garbage, and various discarded materials. Seeing the photograph of a former prime minister left in such a neglected state inside an important government office raised widespread concern and criticism among local political leaders and activists.

Immediate answers were unavailable regarding how the photo entered the office, where it was previously kept, who placed it near the stairs, or under whose instruction it had been removed. Taking the matter seriously, UNO Jasmin Akter constituted a probe committee. Sources confirmed that the committee will investigate how the photo arrived at the office, where it was preserved, how it ended up near the staircase, and whether there was any negligence of duty on anyone's part.

Locals asserted that finding an untended photograph of a former head of government inside a official facility is entirely unacceptable, emphasizing that responsible officials must be held accountable.

Upazila BNP General Secretary Aiyub Ali stated that seeing former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia's photo lying among dirt and abandoned items inside a government office is highly regrettable and condemnable. He demanded a thorough investigation to identify those responsible and determine any operational neglect.

Upazila BNP President Chand Sarkar remarked that leaving the photograph of a three-time prime minister neglected in a public office cannot be tolerated. He demanded a proper investigation and appropriate departmental action against those involved.

Meanwhile, local residents praised UNO Jasmin Akter's swift decision to form an inquiry committee, noting that addressing such allegations promptly demonstrates administrative accountability. They expressed confidence that a fair investigation will uncover the facts and assign responsibility where due.
