Railway Ticket Black Marketing via Automated Bots: Steps Initiated to Block Illegal Website
Bangladesh Railway passenger train services, which faced e-ticketing cyber disruptions caused by automated bot attacks and black-market ticket scalping.

Bangladesh Railway has initiated decisive legal and technical measures against an unauthorized website using automated bots to artificially block train tickets and resell them on the black market at inflated prices.

According to a press release issued on Thursday (October 8, 2026) by Anisur Rahman, Director (Public Relations) of Bangladesh Railway, an illegal entity operating under the domain 'bookmyrailbd.com' has been systematically launching automated bot operations targeting the railway’s official e-ticketing platform.

By artificially locking up large quotas of train seats, the illicit network prevented genuine passengers from purchasing tickets at official fares. In response, Bangladesh Railway instructed its ticketing partner, Shohoz Limited, to immediately bolster cybersecurity protocols and integrate anti-bot defenses.

Simultaneously, official letters were dispatched to Bangladesh Police Inspector General (IGP) to arrest and prosecute the cybercriminals involved, while the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) was formally requested to block the website, its associated IP addresses, and mobile application within Bangladesh. Railway authorities urged passengers to purchase tickets exclusively through the official portal (eticket.railway.gov.bd) and the Rail Sheba application.
