The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested retired Major General Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury from the capital's Segunbagicha area on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) in connection with the attack, vandalism, and looting at the New Guinea Properties housing project in ECB Chatwar.
Additional Commissioner of Police Md. Shafiqul Islam confirmed the arrest, noting that a total of eight suspects have now been apprehended—three by DB and five by Cantonment Police Station officers—including co-accused Mizanur Rahman (59). The incident occurred on Saturday night at South Manikdi under Cantonment Police Station, where miscreants targeted the New Guinea Properties project and ransacked content creator Salman Muqtadir's 'Brownfish' studio situated on the premises. Saiful Islam Bhuiyan, Director of New Guinea Properties, filed a formal case with Cantonment Police Station naming 13 individuals—including Major General (Retd.) Golam Mohiuddin Chowdhury—alongside 150 to 200 unidentified accomplices.
