Chaired by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni at the Jatiya Sangshad Bhaban, the committee's second formal meeting reviewed performance metrics for the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) and the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC). Officials revealed that severe natural gas shortages restricted production at Yamuna Fertilizer Company to just three days over the past two years, while Ashuganj Fertilizer Factory has remained completely shut down for 19 months. To safeguard foreign currency reserves and prevent domestic shortages, the committee instructed the Ministry of Industries to modernize aging facilities, formulate plans for paid-off factories, and implement a digital real-time monitoring system to secure the national supply chain. Furthermore, the panel directed strict legal audits to revoke licenses of unscrupulous dealers causing artificial market shortages and requested long-term BADC strategies to secure national food security in line with demographic growth.
