Over one thousand students of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University (SAU) held a mass rally and blocked the China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC) Signal in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Wednesday morning, November 4, 2026. The demonstration was organized to press their demand for the immediate recovery and handover of the old International Trade Fair ground for university research purposes.

The protesters assembled near the university's flagstand around 11:00 AM before marching to the key arterial intersection. The blockade led to severe vehicular disruption along the Agargaon and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar road corridors. In addition to the road blockade, the student steering committee announced an effigy-burning program in front of the Public Works Complex located in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

This escalation follows a decision reached during an all-batch student exchange meeting at the university TSC on Tuesday night, where students unanimously declared an indefinite university shutdown, boycotting all classes, midterms, and final examinations. The agitation initially began on October 27 when students seized soil-testing equipment brought to the site for the proposed Secretariat relocation project. Despite the Youth and Sports Ministry suspending national trade fairs on October 29, students expanded their protest after police filed cases against unknown individuals, eventually using heavy machinery to clear fair structures and taking physical possession of the land on November 2.
