State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir is scheduled to depart Dhaka for Seoul on Wednesday (September 30, 2026) on a two-day official bilateral visit to South Korea, during which he will deliver an official invitation from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to South Korean President Lee Jae-myung to visit Bangladesh.
The upcoming visit was discussed during a meeting between South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Kim Ji-joon and State Minister Kabir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka on Tuesday (September 29, 2026). Ambassador Kim welcomed the invitation initiative, characterizing it as a vital step in bolstering bilateral ties. During his stay in Seoul, State Minister Kabir is slated to hold bilateral discussions with South Korea's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vice Minister of Trade, Vice Minister of Defense, and representatives from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Both sides expressed satisfaction over the successful conclusion of negotiations for the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), while exploring expanded South Korean investment opportunities across high-tech industries, artificial intelligence, shipbuilding, and electronics. Kabir also confirmed upcoming visits to Seoul by the Commerce Minister and Finance Minister in the coming weeks.
