A 27-year-old footwear vendor named Aryan was killed after being struck by an unidentified speeding vehicle at Janapad Mor in Jatrabari, Dhaka, during the early hours of Friday, October 30, 2026.

The tragic incident occurred around 3:30 AM in front of the Malancha Community Center under Jatrabari Police Station. Aryan, son of Kader Bhuiyan from Ramgarh village in Bauphal, Patuakhali, resided in the Nabinagar Mir Hazirbagh area of Jatrabari and earned his living selling shoes on the footpath. According to his relative Sohag Mia, Aryan was returning home after finishing his daily business when a fast-moving, unidentified vehicle knocked him down on the street and fled the scene.

Local passersby used the mobile phone found on Aryan to notify Sohag Mia, who rushed to the spot and initially took him to a nearby clinic. As his condition deteriorated, Aryan was transferred to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 5:40 AM, where attending doctors pronounced him dead upon examination. Sohag Mia revealed that Aryan married a woman named Mim a year ago, and she is currently four months pregnant, leaving the family devastated as Aryan passed away before seeing his unborn child. Inspector Mo. Habibur Rahman, In-Charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed that the body has been placed in the hospital morgue for an autopsy and Jatrabari Police Station has been alerted to identify and track the hit-and-run vehicle.
