UN Special Rapporteur Farida Shaheed to Visit Dhaka in November to Assess Education Rights
UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education Farida Shaheed, who is scheduled to undertake an official assessment mission to Bangladesh from November 23 to December 4.

United Nations Special Rapporteur on the Right to Education Farida Shaheed will undertake an official visit to Bangladesh from November 23 to December 4, 2026, to review national progress and systemic challenges surrounding equitable, inclusive, and quality education.

According to an official announcement by the United Nations Human Rights Office, the visit comes at the invitation of the Bangladesh government. During her eleven-day mission, Shaheed will assess non-discriminatory access to quality public education and evaluate national financing structures supporting the education sector. Her official agenda includes bilateral meetings with government representatives, international organizations, civil society advocates, non-governmental organizations, administrators and staff from public and private educational institutions, academics, teachers, students, and parents across the country. Following the conclusion of her country visit, the UN Special Rapporteur is expected to present her findings and recommendations to support Bangladesh's international human rights obligations regarding universal education.
