Police inspect the scene on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Jatrabari after an unidentified vehicle struck and killed a female pedestrian.

An unidentified woman was killed on Wednesday morning (September 30, 2026) after being run over by a speeding unidentified vehicle on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway under Jatrabari Police Station in Dhaka.

Police recovered the bloody body from the outgoing lane of the highway opposite a garment factory after receiving information at around 5:00 AM. Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Aowlad Hossain of Jatrabari Police Station confirmed that following legal formalities, the body was transported to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy. Quoting local eyewitnesses, SI Hossain stated that the woman was hit by a fast-moving vehicle while attempting to cross the road during the early morning hours, suffering fatal head injuries that caused her immediate death at the scene. Jatrabari Police have notified the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Crime Scene Team to assist in identifying the victim using fingerprint technology, while a legal process is underway to trace the hit-and-run vehicle.
