Work on 44 EGPP Plus Projects Begins in Ukhia

Work on 44 projects under the Employment Generation Program for the Poorest (EGPP Plus) has commenced in Ukhia upazila, Cox's Bazar. Through these projects across five unions of the upazila, 2,380 unskilled women and men have secured temporary employment with a daily wage of BDT 500. A total of BDT 12.25 crore has been allocated for these projects.

On Sunday (October 4), the projects were inaugurated simultaneously across Rajapalong, Haldiapalong, Ratnapalong, Palongkhali, and Jaliapalong unions under the initiative of the Department of Disaster Management and the upazila administration. Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Abu Abdullah inaugurated the work as the chief guest in Wards 4 and 5 of Rajapalong Union.

Gias Uddin, sub-assistant engineer of the Upazila Project Implementation Officer's Office, and Mir Sahedul Islam Chowdhury Roman, acting chairman of Rajapalong Union Parishad, along with other project-affiliated individuals, were present at the event.

According to the Upazila Project Implementation Officer's Office, the program is being implemented under the BCRS project for the 2026–2027 fiscal year. The goal of the program is to enhance the disaster resilience, self-reliance, and community-level coping capacity of the local population.

Upazila Project Implementation Officer ATM Kawchar Ahmad stated that the program will facilitate the construction of internal rural communication roads in lagging rural areas, as well as the renovation of fields and graveyards at various educational and religious institutions.
