An incident of fire took place at the Jashore Sadar Sub-Registry Office on Tuesday night. Locals suddenly spotted a fire inside a room of the abandoned building situated in front of the new building, which sparked panic across the area during midnight. Upon being informed, the fire service arrived and brought the fire under control. However, locals alleged that although two night guards were supposed to be on duty at night, neither of them was present at the scene. They were later summoned over the phone by locals, following which additional police personnel were deployed in the area.

Local residents stated that around 12:30 AM, they suddenly saw sparks of fire in a room on the ground floor of the abandoned building. Upon moving closer, they saw that various documents inside the room were burning. Initially, they tried to douse the flames with water and began searching for the two night guards, but neither of them was found there. They arrived later. After the fire was brought under control, the room was locked up. Locals primarily suspect that since the windows and doors of the building are broken, anyone can enter at any given time. Drug addicts reportedly consumed drugs inside through those open spaces, and the fire might have originated from such an incident. Meanwhile, when the sub-registrar was contacted regarding the fire incident, he could not be reached.
